Composed, performed and recorded by Andy Brown, spring 2020.
Just before Xmas 2019 I suffered a hypoxic grand mal seizure and nearly died. It was brought on by unintentionally inhaling poisonous paint fumes and exacerbated by my asthma.
For the first 33 minutes this track attempts to convey the growing feeling of fighting for air, having lungs refusing to work, extreme compression growing in the chest and head and having eyesight distorting and fading in and out. It continues to the point of unconsciousness, or where my memory of the event stops and from around 33:30 the track is an attempt to relate the hazy and disconnected feeling of regaining consciousness in the intensive care unit, which felt like moments later for me but was 2 days later in real time.
Auditory flagellation, it revels in the pageantry of debasement without tipping over into pantomime. Wields volume like a filthy cleaver, to love it is to submit to it. Stable
A pitch-black, ugly album. Taking their unhinged no-wave inspired noises and drags it through the sewers and the graveyards of Lyon. A perfectly squalid, grinding album. Stable
